2016 was a huge year for superhero films across the board. DC made their mark in the industry with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Marvel continued their near perfect streak with Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange. A few other players made the year even more interesting, Deadpool being one of the biggest successes of the year that surprised many.
While our favorite male characters dominated comic book movies, the females won 2016. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) quickly became fan favorites and two of the most talked about characters of the year.
While we have a lot to look forward in the upcoming year, including everything from Logan to Wonder Woman, I’m going to take a moment and look back at the year that was. The following is how I rank the superhero films of 2016.
Technically, Max Steel and A Flying Jatt would fall into these rankings but I missed them in theaters and from what I hear, that isn’t a bad thing. Comment below and join in on the conversation!
