Warner Bros. & DC Impresses At SDCC 2017

The DC Cinematic Extended Universe (DCEU) has had more ups and downs than an average roller coaster. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad disappointed critics and some fans but Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman was a life-saving adrenaline shot to the entire cinematic universe.

With Justice League being released later this year, all eyes turn to San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and the Warner Bros. presentation. While the entire focus of the Warner Bros panel won’t be DC centered…no offense to Spielberg’s Ready Player One, it’s without a doubt the main attraction.

Chris Harwick served as the panel moderator and the event kicked off with Ready Player One and Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg took the stage, along with Ernest Cline, author of Ready Player One. Never before seen footage of Ready Player One was shown.

As expected, news regarding the DCEU would be held until the end of the panel.

Following Ready Player One, which had an impressing opening for the panel, was Blade Runner 2049. The recently released trailer for the film was shown in Hall H and featured a holographic appearance by Jared Leto. Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James and director Denis Villeneuve also addressed Hall H.

Finally, the DCEU took over Hall H and opened with a sizzle reel of previous films. Aquaman kicked off the excitement, complete with Jason Momoa and his Trident and a message from director James Wan.

It was also confirmed that the DCEU would be embracing the “Flashpoint” storyline, possibly as a way to reset the universe? The rest of the Justice League cast entered Hall H and walked through the crowd up to the stage.

Check out the brand new trailer:

The panel was opened up to audience questions following the new trailer release.
