‘Dunkirk’ Remains No. 1 Against ‘The Emoji Movie’ & ‘Atomic Blonde’

Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk held off competition from The Emoji Movie and Atomic Blonde to remain number one at the domestic box office this weekend. Nolan’s war-epic took in $28.1 million over 3,748 locations.

The only other film to take the top spot two weekends in a row since Warner Bros.’ own, Wonder WomanWonder Woman is closing in on $400 million domestically and has a worldwide total of $779.6 million.

The Emoji Movie opened to $25.7 million despite receiving overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics. Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blonde earned an estimated $18.5 million, the film was being helmed as “the female John Wick” but didn’t seem to hit the right notes with audiences like John Wick or James Bond.
